Affects on Agriculture

This video explains how Bt helps farmers, and its affects on the crop itself.

Affects on Agriculture:

Even though bacillus thuringiensis is genetically induced in the corn, or other crops, it does not harm

them. However, because the Bt strains are so specific, they will not kill every pest infecting a field. Also, Bt

cannot have a continuous effect on other pests. This is because the amount of spores created in an insect

is too few. After the insect dies the spores will not affect the plants or other insects. Because of this, Bt is

applied much lik synthetic insecticides, every couple of days. As a result of this, some insects will become

immune to the Bt strains attacking it. However, because Bt is organic it is better for the environment than

normal synthetic pesticides.
